Worship

Our worship service focuses on our Savior Jesus Christ. God comes to us through the gospel of Christ in word and sacrament, announcing his promises of forgiveness. God's family -- people of different ages, backgrounds and cultures -- respond with prayer and praise.

Our worship services begin each Sunday at 9:00 a.m., followed by Bible study (and Sunday School) at 10:15 a.m.

Special worship services for the season of Lent are held on Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m.

 

Bible Study

Our congregation takes growth in the word of God seriously, although we offer both formal and informal study formats. Through study of Scripture, we come to know our Savior and learn to serve him faithfully. A number of opportunities for Bible study are offered, including:

  • Sunday mornings, before worship
  • Men's Bible breakfast (Saturdays at 7 a.m. at Janet's Richmaid in Lodi)
  • Women's Bible study (held in members' homes)
  • Adult Information Class (for those looking to join our church or review Bible doctrine)
  • Youth Group
  • Kids4Christ
  • Sunday school for children

 

Service

We have a very active membership, with a variety of opportunities to use our God-given talents. Some of the ways that our members are involved in service include:

  • Lutheran Women Missionary Society
  • Choir (adult and children)
  • Sunday school teachers
  • Bible study leaders
  • Youth group
  • Ushers
  • Building committee
  • Visitation program
  • Evangelism and outreach

 

Fellowship

As members of the Body of Christ, and united by our common faith, members of Christ Ev. Lutheran Church find many ways to express and enjoy their fellowship with each other. In addition to worship and the celebration of the Lord's Supper, which is the greatest expression of our unity in Christ, we also rejoice in our fellowship through activities such as these:

  • Monthly Game Night (fun for all ages)
  • "Faith Lifting Teens" (youth group)
  • Kids4Christ (activities, crafts and games for kids ages 5-12)
  • Ladies Mission Society
  • Choir (a lot more fun than some people realize)
  • Informal Bible study groups
  • Family Game Night
  • as well as a number of events and activities with other congregations in our fellowship here in Northern California.
