What's New at Christ Lutheran Church?

Season of End Time

Each year at this time, the Christian church turns its attention to Jesus' promise to return and judge all nations. Since the day and time of Christ's coming are unknown to anyone on earth, we pray that God keeps us prepared to receive him in faith. He does that through his Word of grace.

Our worship service themes reflect this during the next four weeks:

* Oct 30 - Reformation: "Lord, keep us faithful to the Word!"
* Nov 6 - Last Judgment: "Lord, keep us mindful of the Judgment!"
* Nov 13 - Saints Triumphant: "Lord, keep us watchful for our triumph!"
* Nov 20 - Christ the King: "Lord, keep us joyful in our King!"

Join us for worship Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m., followed by Bible study and Sunday School at 10:15 a.m.

Mission Festival

On September 11, 2011, Christ Ev. Lutheran Church is holding a Mission Festival. Sermon, hymn, and prayers will focus on the great things God is doing in bringing the lost to the light of Christ. Emphasis will be given to the Central African Medical Mission which has been serving as a mercy ministry and opening doors to the Gospel for the last 50 years.

Following the worship service which begins at 9:00 a.m., we have a special mission presentation and then a free-will offering meai. All are welcome to join us for this celebration of God's grace to the nations.

Sunday School enrollment open

Enrollment is open for the fall semester of Sunday School. Children from pre-K to 8th grade are welcome to join us. Classes begin every Sunday morning at 10:15 a.m. The hour-long classes offer a variety of activities:

  • Bible lesson - this year from the Old Testament
  • Music and singing
  • Crafts which reenforce the lesson's theme
  • Life applications and discussion of God's truths

The first class is August 21, 2011. This year our curriculum will focus on Bible History lessons from the Old Testament, starting with Israel's crossing the Jordan River to enter the Promised Land and ending with the books of Daniel and Esther. All lessons are taught at age-appropriate levels. Adult Bible study is offered at the same time.

Read Pastor Marquardt's article on the value of Sunday School that was printed in the Lodi News-Sentinel on August 13.

We hope to see you in Sunday School this year!
